The 2014 ICC World Twenty20 will be the fifth ICC World Twenty20 competition, an international Twenty20 cricket tournament that is scheduled to take place in Bangladesh from 16 March to 6 April 2014.

It will be second and consecutive time that an Asian country will host this event, as Sri Lanka hosted the previous tournament in 2012.

Though, ICC has not arranged for an Opening Ceremony, BCB has decided to celebrate the magic of cricket through a live concert. The legendary A R Rahman and Akon is going top perform in this ceremony.

However, they are not the only ones. Many elite artist of our own are going to perform as well. They’re all thrilled to have the opportunity to woo the world.

Khairul Anam Shakil, along with some 20 other teachers of Chhayanaut, will be performing the National Anthem at the ceremony. Chhayanaut holds Bangladesh and its culture deep in its heart, and they are proud to sing at such a big stage. Khairul Anam is glad that they have been invited to do the honours, to sing the National Anthem when the whole world will be watching.

Elita, along with Kona, Pantha Kanai, Pooja, Johan, Shanto and Fuad Al Muqtadir will sing the theme song of this year’s tournament at the concert. Naturally, they’re all very excited, to be performing at the same stage as the great AR Rahman. The song they’re singing is very energetic; the lyrics are witty and the tune is catchy, so they hope to infuse that energy into the crowds through their performance.

Warda Rihab is directing dance pieces to go with five songs; the welcome song of the tournament by Fuad and Konal, “Shadher Lau” by Runa Laila, “Majhi Nao Chhaira Dey” by Sabina Yasmeen, and “Ekdin Bangali Chilam Re” by Kumar Biswajit and “Morar Kokile” by Momtaz. Although she was invited last-minute and just got five days to prepare, she’s very pumped up; and hopes to put up a good show.

Konal, along with Fuad Al Muqtadir, will be singing the welcome song of the tournament “Urchhe Shanti’r Payra”, at the ceremony. Since the song is about Bangladesh welcoming the world to the cricketing spectacle, it has a very grand, majestic sort of arrangement. It’s certainly a big responsibility, and she feels privileged to be a part of it.
