PBL signs deal with BB under JICA assisted SME project

An agreement was signed between Bangladesh Bank and Pubali Bank Ltd (PBL) under JICA Assisted Financial Sector Project for the development of Small & Medium sized Enterprises at Bangladesh Bank conference room recently.

In the presence of AHM Kai-Khasru, Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank, 7 banks and non-bank financial institutions, including Pubali Bank took part in the signing ceremony on behalf of their own organization.

Bangladesh Bank_JAICASukomol Singh Chowdhury, General Manager and Project Director, Department of SME and Special programs Bangladesh Bank and Helal Ahmed Chowdhury, Managing Director and CEO of Pubali Bank signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations at a simple ceremony.

Under this project, the Government of Japan will provide a total amount of 5000 million yen for the Development of the SME sector, Bangladesh Bank and participating banks and financial institutions.

General Manager, Credit Division of Pubali Bank Ltd Habibur Rahman and other senior officials of both organizations were also present at the signing ceremony.

In his short speech Managing Director and CEO of Pubali Bank Helal Ahmed Chowdhury said that the loan obtaining from JICA will be help to be powerful and dynamic of the women entreprenuers. He said that Pubali Bank is working for the rural populatiion in poverty alleviation and development small and medium enterprises. He also said Pubali Bank is extending bulk loan to poor people at a competitive interest rate for poverty alleviation of the rural people.
