India wants a peaceful and violence-free election in Bangladesh with the participation of ‘maximum parties’, said visiting Indian foreign secretary Sujatha Singh at a meeting with senior journalists on Wednesday.
“The Indian top diplomat said India supports peaceful and violence-free election with the participation of maximum parties,” replying to a query whether India wants an ‘inclusive election’ in Bangladesh.
Sujatha Singh came up with the remark during a discussion with editors and senior journalists at Hotel Sonargaon in the capital.
She hoped that the upcoming election will reflect the aspirations of the people of Bangladesh and it will be free, fair, impartial and peaceful one and have the greater acceptance.
“This is an important time for Bangladesh. The people of Bangladesh like anywhere in the world deserve the right to choose their elected representatives freely and fairly,” she added.
