IBFB members to get preferences for US Visa

The US Consul General in Bangladesh Jemmy B Fouss said that the IBFB Members will get some preferences and facilities to apply for and obtain US Visa. He also declared that IBFB Members, applied through proper channel, will get appointment for US Visa purposes from the US Embassy within 2 days of their submission of application.

In addition, any IBFB Member having US Visa from January 2008 and onward will get special facilities to renew their visas within 3 days. The Consul General was addressing as the chief guest in a seminar on “How to apply and obtain US Visa” recently organized by IBFB Chittagong Chapter at Hotel Agrabad in Chittagong.

IBFB Seminar on US VisaWhile giving an emphasis on increased bilateral relationship specially in the areas of development partnership, trade and business between USA and Bangladesh, Fouss said US exports to Bangladesh has increased to 44% in 2013 compared to the previous year, and application for non-immigrant US visa has also remarkably increased.

He told that if the non-immigrant visa applicants can guarantee to return from USA, it becomes easier for them to obtain US Visa. In this context, he said, the US Govt. has US Visa process much easier than before. A consular officer from the Dhaka US Embassy debriefed the participants on different types of US Visa, application procedure, required documentations and related issues.

The seminar was presided over by the Engr. Sakhawat Hossain, Chairperson of IBFB Chittagong Chapter and Managing Director of Western Marine Services Ltd. where Dr. Md. Omar Shafayat Kausar, IBFB Vice President was present as Special Guest. Mahmudul Islam Chowdhury, IBFB Founding President and former Mayor of Chittagong & former MP, and amongst the members of the Board of Directors of IBFB Chittagong Chapter Golam Sarwar, Abdul Mannan Majumder, Saifullah Mansur, Alhaj Anowarul Islam etc. were present in the seminar. The seminar was also attended by many University students, business persons and individuals wishing to apply for US visa.
