IBBL launches VISA Debit Card

Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited (IBBL) announced the launch of its next generation Islami Bank VISA Debit Card. Dasgupta Asim Kumar, Executive Director, Bangladesh Bank at a local hotel on Wednesday  formally inaugurated the launch of the card as chief guest.

Presided over by Mohammad Abdul Mannan, Managing Director and CEO of the Bank, the ceremony was addressed as special guests by K.M. Abdul Wadood, General Manager, Bangladesh Bank and Uttam Nayak, Group Country Manager, India and South Asia, VISA. AKM Abdul Malek Chowdhury, Deputy Managing Director, IBBL addressed welcome speech in the ceremony.

04The function was also addressed by Nurul Islam Khalifa, Deputy Managing Director, Islami Bank and SM Sayedul Haque, Chairman, Biometric BD Limited. Moha. Shamsul Haque, Mohammad Abul Bashar,        Md. Habibur Rahman Bhuiyan, FCA, Md. Mahbub-ul-Alam and Rafi Ahmed Begh, Deputy Managing Directors of the bank were present on the occasion.

Dasgupta Asim Kumar, as chief guest said that Bangladesh has achieved a treamendous success in technology based modern banking within a short span of time. In line with the developed country, commercial Banks in Bangladesh are intruducing electronic based modern banking products for their customers. IBBL’s VISA debit card is one of a continuous endevours of modern banking in Bangladesh. He called upon all to adopt the modern banking services.

Mohammad Abdul Mannan, in his presidential speech, said that Islami Bank always adopts modern and latest technology to make banking services convenient and secure for customers. Continuing embracing of innovative technology is a part of our commitment to strengthen our relations with customers, he said adding that the VISA Debit Card is another step in this direction. He said that IBBL VISA Debit card will be as popular in Bangladesh and one of the safest available for online and standard use with an EMV chip for added security against counterfeiting.

Announcing the launch, Uttam Nayak, Group Country Manager, India and South Asia, VISA, said, “It is our constant endeavor to create an ecosystem which generates value and convenience to our partners and their end users. Visa is a global payment technology company and all across we are trying to build the ePayments framework to enable opportunities and economies to grow. The launch of the Islami Visa Debit card is of great significance and in the future also we will work together to further enhance our contribution and effort”.

IBBL VISA debit cardholders will be facilitated with withdrawal of cash form all VISA supported ATM booths, purchase from all VISA POS along with e-commerce facilities and e-ticketing.
