The Dr Shahrier Memorial Rapid Rating Chess Tournament organized by Golden Sporting Club associated with Bangladesh Chess Federation begun from yesterday (Thursday) on 11th November at the Khan Hasan AddarshaPrimary School in Kathalbagan in the city.
A total 112 players including GM Ziaur Rahman, IM Minhazuddin Ahmed, IM Abu Sufian Shakil, FM Kh. Aminul Islam, FM Mohammad Javed, FM Mehdi Hasan Parag, FM Mohammad Fahad Rahman, WIM Rani Hamid and CM Sohel Chwodhury are participating in the event.
The inauguration ceremony was held yesterday (Thursday) before start the event. WIM Mrs. Rani Hamid inaugurated the event to present as chief guest. Mr. Gazi Shayiful Tarique, General Secretary of Bangladesh Chess Federation, Mr. Kazi Morshed Kamal, Director of BDBL and President of Taekwondo Federation, Grandmaster Ziaur Rahman, Mr. Nazrul Islam Babul Vice-President of Taekwondo Federation and General Secretary of Kalabagan Awami-League, Md. Sarwar General Secretary of 16 Word Awami-League and President of Dr. Shahrier Sangngsad, Mr. Kamrul Islam President of Kalabagan Thana Jubo League and Secretary of Dr. Shahrier Smirity Sangsad and Md. Shah Alam Khan Vice-President of Jubo League of Dhaka City and Mr. Nazim Ali Dewan former Commissioner of 19 to 20 words were present as special guests.
Mohammad Amir Ali Rana President of Golden Sporting Club preside the ceremony. The event is being held in two days and cash prize money will be given to the winners. The 5th round games will start today (Friday) from 10:30 PM at the same venue.
