DHL grants Living Responsibility Fund to Bangladesh school

Deutsche Post DHL (DP DHL), the world’s leading postal and logistics company has recently bestowed the 2013 Living Responsibility Fund to ‘Baptist Mission Integrated School, Bangladesh (BMIS)’.

Under this award, a total of Euro 4000 has been granted to the school for visually impaired children, that will be utilized in technical skill development and vocational training for the students. DHL Global Forwarding Bangladesh initially proposed the BMIS project to Deutsche Post DHL, enabling their nomination for the 2013 Living Responsibility Fund Award.

In regard to this initiative, DHL Global Forwarding Country Manager, Mr. Nooruddin Chowdhury stated “It is a great honor for us to recognize BMIS for the noble cause they have undertaken. DHL Global Forwarding is committed to provide further support to BMIS and similar other initiatives in the future.”

DHL entities in Bangladesh, DHL Global Forwarding & DHL Express joined hands together to support BMIS over the last two years by donating Braille books, sound systems for educational facilitation  to the school as part of DHL’s Global Volunteer Day sessions.

As the world’s leading postal and logistics company, Deutsche Post DHL is committed to corporate social responsibility. The company makes concerted effort to meet this responsibility and the willingness to help is an established part of company culture. To promote local community investment projects, it launched the Living Responsibility Fund Award. The level of financial support depends upon how much time its employees invest in community projects.

Baptist Mission Integrated School, Dhaka (BMIS), a school run by Bangladeshi Baptists, provides schooling to about 100 children facing a double handicap: blind or visually impaired. The school provides vocational training, plus computerized books production and free distribution to all students. The school also helps blind girls to integrate in normal society, dispel prejudice amongst the sighted children against those disabilities, as well as help the finances of the school.

Both DHL Global Forwarding & DHL Express has expressed interest to continue supporting BMIS in their journey, thereby contributing to the society.
