Cotton Assoc visits Bangladesh

As part of its strategy to represent all sectors of the global supply chain, ICA Cotton Association made a return trip to Bangladesh last month to meet with key stake holders from the Bangladesh spinning and textile community, BTMA and BCA.

cotton-bollICA President, Jordan Lea led the delegation – accompanied by Jean-Marc Derossis, ICA First Vice President; Kai Hughes, ICA Managing Director and John Gibson, ICA Head of Arbitration – to deliver two presentations in Dhaka’s Radisson Blu and to attend a networking reception in the city to meet with the cotton community’s next generation, all coordinated by local ICA member, Hissam Khandker.

Speaking after the visit Jordan said: “This visit has been an excellent way to strengthen the bonds between the ICA and the Bangladesh spinning and textile sector. Bangladesh is the second largest importer of cotton in the world and the visit provided an ideal opportunity for us to discuss trade matters of mutual interest face-to-face and work together to promote good trading practices and the concept of contract sanctity. It was a privilege to meet with the senior mentor generation and the next generation of stake holders from across the cotton community and our sincere thanks go to everybody for making us so welcome and to Hissam for helping us to coordinate the visit itinerary.”
