If violence goes on, orders may shift to other destinations

If current spell of violence goes on in RMG sector, orders from international buyers may shift to alternative destinations and thus the country may also lose foreign direct investment (FDI), said  Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI). BGMEA requests Biswal to withdraw GSP suspension

Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) on Sunday requested the US government to withdraw the suspension of GSP facility for Bangladeshi products in the US market. BGMEA President M Atiqul Islam made the request during a luncheon meeting with Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs Nisha Desai Biswal in a city hotel today. BGMEA director loses cool at meeting on minimum wage

Commerce Secretary and Labour Secretary on Wednesday came under fire when a BGMEA director came down heavily on the government for what she says the government is only focusing on the RMG sector for wage hike. Though the surprised secretaries – Mahbub Ahmed and Mikail Shipar – tried to correct her notion, BGMEA director Vidiya Amrit Khan kept on arguing with her point with support from her some fellow owners, reports UNB. Decisions to be taken in Nov to help RMG sector
