Senior clergy in Bangladesh have been praising the achievements of Father Philip D’Rozario, the most senior diocesan priest in the country, after he passed away this week at the age of 82. Professor Khaleda Ekram, the first woman vice-chancellor of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), breathed her last at a hospital in Bangkok today. Sixty-six-year-old Ekram was suffering from cancer and breathed her last at Bangkok General Hospital. Pioneering Bengali woman journalist and editor of the country’s first illustrated women’s weekly ‘Begum’, Nurjahan Begum, passed away at Square Hospital in Dhaka on Monday morning. She was 91. Nurjahan Begum who was admitted to the Square Hospital on Wednesday last with respiratory problems, including pneumonia, was shifted to the hospital’s intensive care unit on Saturday as her condition deteriorated.
