Bangladesh Day was observed in the Kolkata Book Fair as the Bangladesh pavilion was inaugurated by Asaduzaman Noor, Bangladesh culture minister. Bangaldeshminister of state for women and child Begum Meher Afroz Chumkiwas also present as a special guest of honour.
It might be mentioned that the book fair was inaugurated by Bengal CM Mamata Banerjeeon Tuesday.
There was cultural programmes by children and a seminar was hosted on the presence of kaibartas– a subaltern group in Bangladeshi literature and the speakers including H Jaladasspoke in depth on the matter and named several books which dealt with the subaltern life including Titas ekti nadir nam( Titasis the name of river)
Several intellectuals including poet Subodh Sarkar, linguist Pabitra Sarkarwere present in the seminar amid the audience. Bangladesh deputy high commissioner Jokey Ahadthanked the speakers.
