Airtel, Teletalk sign deal to share infrastructure

Airtel Bangladesh Limited, one of the fastest growing telecom operator of the country, has recently signed a MoU regarding infrastructure sharing with Teletalk Bangladesh Limited.

This infrastructure sharing between Airtel and Teletalk will be another milestone for the telecom industry’s infrastructure sharing business. In order to reduce passive network and save national resources, BTRC has highly encouraged telecom operators to share infrastructure to ensure optimum usage. This infrastructure sharing will enable Teletalk to utilize the passive infrastructure of Airtel across the country and will allow both the operators to be cost effective & competitive by increasing the utilization of existing passive infrastructure at sites. This will significantly benefit the consumers by increasing the availability of communication services, increasing consumer choice and reducing the cost of services.

TELETALK_1Chris Tobit, CEO and Managing Director of Airtel Bangladesh Limited and Mujibur Rahman, Managing Director of Teletalk signed the agreement at Airtel Corporate Office in Banani. Chris Tobit said, “Our prime focus is to provide our customers with the highest quality of communication services with cost effective solutions. We believe that this partnership will allow us to fully utilize the optimum level of capacity for BTS sites and help us reduce the current pressure through consolidation. We believe that this partnership will allow us to provide high value 3G and 2G data and voice services for our customers.”

From Airtel, Jayesh Patel, Chief Supply Chain Officer, Sandipan Chakraborty, Chief Technical Officer, Yasir A Mabud, Head Site Acquisition & Projects and Tareq Aziz, Senior Executive Site Acquisition & Projects were present at the agreement signing ceremony along with other senior officials. From Teletalk 3G Project Director Gias Uddin Ahmed, General Manager Regulatory and Corporate Relation Kazi Md. Golam Quddus, Deputy General Manager 3G Project Md. Rezaul Kabir, Deputy General Manager Procurement, Md. Anwar Hossain , Deputy General Manager Provash Chandra Roy, Manager Mohammad Razaul Karim Rizvi, Assistant Manager 3G Project S.M. Luthfullahil Mozid were present.
